Requirements for Domestic Trademark Applications

  • Renewed Business license or Investment license with supporting letter
  • When the application of the registration of a trademark filed through the representative, a letter of representation must be provided
  • Sample of trade mark:- One (1) big size on A-4 paper and eight (8) small sizes on A-4 paper
  • Filling out application form in two (2) copies
  • Application fee 1750 birr for one class, if the trademark covers more than one class of goods or services the fee shall include additional payment of 50% of 1750.00 birr
  • Certificate (Registration) fee is 3000.00 birr for one class

Requirements for Foreign Trademark Applications

  • Renewed business license or Certificate of registration of a foreign trademark or Certificate of Incorporation
  • When the application of the registration of a trademark filed through the agent, it shall be an accompanied Authenticated Power of Attorney
  • Sample of trade mark:- One (1) big size on A-4 paper and eight (8) small sizes on A-4 paper
  • Filling out application form in two (2) copies
  • Application fee 1750 birr for one class, if the trademark covers more than one class of goods or services the fee shall include additional payment of 50% of 1750.00 birr
  • Certificate (Registration) fee is 3000.00 birr for one class
