Ethiopian Delegation Holds Talks with WIPO Director General

The Ethiopian delegation participating at the 66th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies held discussions with Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO, to explore potential areas of cooperation between Ethiopia and WIPO.

During the meeting, the Director General of the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Authority Mr Woldu Yemessel briefed Mr. Tang on Ethiopia’s priorities in the intellectual property (IP) sector. He expressed Ethiopia’s interest in deepening its collaboration with WIPO, particularly in leveraging WIPO’s capacity building programs to enhance the role and benefits of IP in national development.

Mr. Tang reaffirmed WIPO’s commitment to supporting Ethiopia in its efforts to strengthen the country’s IP ecosystem.

In addition, the EIPA Director General held discussions with Ms. Loretta Asiedu, Director of Division for Africa, and Ms. Sherine Greiss, Senior Coordinator for Copyright Development at WIPO. The discussions focused on the progress of ongoing projects and the implementation of future initiatives.

The Ethiopian Intellectual Property Authority and the Ethiopian Permanent Mission are participating in the Assemblies taking place from July 8 to 17, 2025 in Geneva.
